Litigation Background
Mr. Risberg was an associate for the law firms of Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP (1990-94) and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP (1994-97). He was also Of Counsel to the law firm of Isbester & Thackray LLP (2002-08).
While at the Isbester firm, he was a member of a three-lawyer team representing plaintiff in a successful patent infringement action relating to phacoemulsification equipment (Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. v. Alcon, Inc.).
The jury awarded $94.8 Million, one of the largest jury verdicts of 2005. The court later trebled damages. The case settled with payment to AMO of $121 million and cross-licenses.
